Police Seized Illegal Firearms and Ammunition in Western Georgia — One Person Detained

Officers of the Mestia District Division of the Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained one person on charges of illegally purchasing and possessing firearms and ammunition. This was reported by Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“As a result of a search conducted by law enforcement officers, automatic firearms, a pistol, magazines, a hand grenade, and 212 rounds of ammunition intended for various firearm models were seized from an outbuilding and a specially equipped hiding place located in the yard of the suspect’s residence.

The investigation is being conducted under Part 3 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which предусматривает punishment of up to six years in prison,” the statement says.
