Police Seize Illegal Firearms and Ammunition in Western Georgia
Employees of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained three people as a result of police operations on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing, and carrying firearms and ammunition. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported this.
“As a result of searches of the detainees’ personal belongings and residences, law enforcement officers seized illegal pistols of various models, magazines, and live ammunition as evidence.
An investigation is underway under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison,” the statement said.
