Officers of the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have detained a minor on charges of group robbery, while another minor has been identified as being involved in the crime. “An investigation conducted by law enforcement officers established that the minors attacked a taxi driver in Tbilisi using a bladed weapon, took his money under threat of death, and fled the scene.

As a result of оперативно-розыскных мероприятий and investigative actions carried out immediately after the crime, police detained one of the minor participants as an accused person, while legally prescribed measures are being carried out in relation to the second minor.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of up to 9 years in prison,” the statement said.
