Law enforcement officers seized up to 6 kilograms of drugs in Georgia — 2 people detained

Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia prevented an attempted distribution of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount within the country. This was reported by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Two people were detained by police on charges of attempting to illegally acquire and store narcotic drugs in especially large quantities, as well as facilitating their sale.

As part of operational measures carried out to expose the suspects, law enforcement officers conducted controlled deliveries of parcels sent to them from various countries, which confirmed that the accused were attempting to illegally acquire and store different types of narcotic drugs.

From the parcels, as well as from the suspects’ residences, police seized as evidence various types of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities, including: up to 6 kilograms of mephedrone, 10 MDMA tablets, up to 200 grams of hashish, and 3 Subutex tablets along with a fragment of a tablet.

As a result of investigative actions, police also seized materials needed for packaging narcotic drugs.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 19-260 and 260 prima of the Criminal Code, which предусматриes punishment of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment,” the statement said.
