Law enforcement officers in Georgia have detained 11 people on drug-related charges
Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained 11 individuals on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitating the sale of particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs. This was reported by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, the detainees include both Georgian citizens and foreign nationals.
“During searches of the accused persons’ personal belongings and residential homes, as well as during investigative experiments at locations indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized as material evidence particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances prepared for distribution, including: methadone, alpha-PVP, MDMA, mephedrone, methamphetamine, pregabalin, about one kilogram of amphetamine, and more than 4 kilograms of dried marijuana.
Among the detainees are individuals against whom the police, in order to expose them, replaced parcels sent in their names and seized particularly large quantities of narcotic substances.
As a result of investigative actions, materials used for packaging narcotic substances were also seized.
The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 260-quater, 19-260, and 261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for up to 20 years of imprisonment or life sentence,” the statement says.
