Employees of the Migration Department detained 45 foreign nationals in Georgia as a result of special immigration control operations
As part of the fight against illegal migration, employees of the Migration Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted special immigration control operations across the country.
According to the agency, 45 foreigners who were staying in the country illegally were detained as a result of the comprehensive operations, including citizens of Kenya, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Algeria, Thailand, Uganda, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Sudan.
As part of the special operations, department employees inspected specific locations and various types of facilities aimed at identifying foreign nationals staying in Georgia without legal grounds.
It was established that the detained individuals were residing in the country in violation of the requirements of the Georgian law “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.”
The detainees are currently being held at the temporary accommodation center of the Migration Department.
Relevant procedures are underway for their deportation from the country.
