Areshidze, the “Georgian Dream” candidate for majority deputy for the Gardabani
region held a pre-election meeting in village Gamarjveba on the 15th
of September. After the meeting, the persons dressed in the “National Movement”
T-shirts tried to insult him physically. An egg was thrown at Mr. Areshidze. The
incident resulted in contradiction between the electors. The eye-witnesses accused Niko Chanturia, the
head of the local “National Movement” office of causing deliberate provocation.
The incident was assessed by David Kupreishvili, the lawyer, who said that the local
government is obliged to ensure holding of elections in peaceful atmosphere.
Gela Nebunishvili, the member of the coalition states that the incident is tied
with Vazha Leluashvili, the high official of the Constitutional Security
Department.
